• Advising on significant, high-value projects, particularly in the energy and resources sector, including project financing and delivery.
• Advising on foreign inbound investment.
• Drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial agreements, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, joint ventures, shareholders’ agreements and other stakeholder arrangements across various industries.
• Advising on a wide range of commercial agreements such as supply and services agreements, consultancy agreements, employee share schemes, terms and conditions, and facility agreements (borrower, lender and guarantor).
• Advising on corporate governance, including compliance with legislation, governing documents, director duties, and shareholder communications.
• Providing strategic advice on structuring and business planning initiatives to support growth, seed funding, and restructuring.
• Managing negotiations related to commercial contracts and shareholder disputes prior to litigation.
• Supporting clients with intellectual property considerations within commercial transactions, including licensing and confidentiality agreements.

Not for profit

• Sophia has practical experience working for and within not-for-profit and non‑government organisations and research bodies, including:
• fulfilling board positions on a number of human rights-focussed international bodies at the University of Queensland
• The Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect
• The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds
• Queensland South Native Title Service
• pro bono initiatives through the University of Queensland, including the Climate Justice Initiative and parliamentary submission on behalf of Prisoners’ Legal Service
• co-authoring the University of Queensland publication, Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld): A Guide to Rights Interpretation.
