Do we need to change how we look at estate planning from 1 July 2026?
Estate planning is a fundamental part of ‘adulting’, and it is so important to ensure each person’s planning is (and continues to be) suitable for their unique situation.
One thing that makes estate planning so interesting is that it is an area that is always evolving, and recent events are seeing that occur at an extreme rate.
Current influences include the growing trend and incentives to challenge estates, ATO TD 2026/D1, Division 296 tax, the 2026 federal Budget announcements, and the way people are supporting future generations.
What does this mean to estate planning, and do we need to rethink how we approach it?
This session will look at how estate planning is changing, including challenging the answers to some often-asked questions:
- Are reversionary pensions all they are cracked up to be?
- Should your superannuation go into your estate, or not?
- Are testamentary trusts still relevant, or have we seen their best days?
- Do we loan or gift assets to children and grandchildren while we are alive?
- Is there still a role for family trusts in estate planning strategies?
- How do I deal with my main residence in my Will?
As this is such a hot topic, we are running this session in multiple locations.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our workshops.
