COVID-19 | Update for commercial landlords

The Australian Government released revised guidance overnight that will impact on commercial landlords and their tenants.

What is the Government’s general message?

People should stay at home unless:

• shopping for essentials

• travelling to and from work (where they cannot work from home)

• going to school

• exercising.

What is already banned?

From midday on Monday, 23 March 2020, the following businesses or places were required to close:

These closures were mandated in addition to the general social distancing measures.

What additional restrictions start tonight?

From 11:59 pm tonight (Wednesday, 25 March 2020), the following additional businesses or places must close:

How long will this last?

No clear answer has been given by the Government. They are saying to expect some measures will remain in place for at least six months.
