Elyse Staunton is an associate in Cooper Grace Ward’s insurance team, where she assists in the management of personal injury claims for both insurers and self-insurers.

Elyse Staunton is an associate in Cooper Grace Ward’s insurance team, where she assists in the management of personal injury claims for both insurers and self-insurers.

Elyse joined the insurance team in 2022 and since then has gained experience predominantly in the management of claims under the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and Motor Accident Insurance Act 1994.

In her role, Elyse regularly advises on matters involving liability and quantum considerations, drawing on her strong knowledge of both pre-proceedings and litigation processes to deliver practical, solution-focused guidance to clients.

  • Advising on liability and quantum issues in personal injuries matters.
  • Representing parties in alternative dispute resolution including mediations, compulsory conferences and informal negotiations.
  • Progressing claims through the pre-proceedings and litigation stages, including conducting liability investigations, drafting pleadings, complying with disclosure obligations and briefing medico-legal experts and counsel.
  • Preparing matters for trial including issuing subpoenas, witness conferences, liaising closely with counsel and witnesses, and assisting counsel at trial.
