Strategy hats were on in Brisbane this weekend with Cooper Grace Ward’s partners, executive team, special counsels and senior associates attending the firm’s annual strategy day. The focus this year was the future of legal services in Australia and the possible impacts the firm can expect in 2020 and beyond.
The firm brought international innovation expert Mitch Kowalski over from Canada to share the latest in legal industry developments and to guide team members through design thinking workshops to benefit clients.
Kowalski is a barrister, a solicitor and a recognised leader in law firm innovation based in Toronto. He has spoken extensively on this topic at industry forums and has consulted to a large number of American and Australian firms. Mitch is the author of two books: The Great Legal Reformation: Notes from the Field and Avoiding Extinction: Reimagining Legal Services for the 21st Century. He is also a visiting professor in legal innovation at the University of Calgary Law School.
In addition to Kowalski, a major banking client shared their unique approaches to innovation with the firm.
