Worker duties under the WHS laws in a working from home environment

Working from home arrangements have become a benefit expected by many workers and one that, in a tight labour market, many employers need to offer in order to recruit and retain staff. Should employers now be taking more significant steps to implement methods to manage worker safety when working from home or are there worker duties under the model WHS laws on which employers can rely?

In this session Gemma Sharp will discuss:

  • the duties on workers under the model WHS laws
  • the extent to which workers can be held accountable for their own health and safety under the WHS laws
  • the extent to which employers can rely on the WHS laws where workers are injured when working from home
  • what employers need to do to manage a worker’s safety when performing work at home.
