Rosalie Cattermole, Special Counsel in our commercial team, has worked with Cooper Grace Ward for six months. We asked her to tell us in her own words what life at Cooper Grace Ward is like, and a few of her past experiences and favourite things.
1. What made you decide to become a lawyer?
My father. He is one of the brightest, most genuine and fair-minded people (and lawyer) I’ve ever met. If I’ve taken after him at all, I’ll be a happy camper.
2. How long have you worked at Cooper Grace Ward for and what brought you to that position?
About 6 months. CGW is highly regarded and particularly the tax team. I knew Fletch and knew of Scott, Linda and Greg.
3. If you could invite three people for dinner, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
At the risk of being soppy, I’d love it if my mum could stop by. I really miss her.
4. Where is the best place in Brisbane to go for a drink or dinner after work?
Hmm, for dinner it was Esquire but that closed recently. Probably Japanese at Nikuya in McLachlan Street.
5. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
There’s no point in being right and being dead (in the context of crossing at pedestrian crossings)
6. Do you have any hobbies/interests outside of work?
Love to ski, hike and run (slowly)
7. Complete this sentence: If I weren’t a lawyer, I would be…
a ski instructor
8. What do you think will be single biggest issue facing the legal space in Australia in 2018?
For Adelaide’s sake and all the work she’s done, I hope it’s data breaches and all things privacy.
9. What do you love about your job?
It’s very technical and difficult. It provides me with the opportunity to develop relationships with some really bright and engaging people (colleagues, clients, peers and within regulator bodies)
10. Something you might not know about me is that…
I worked as an aerobic instructor throughout undergrad law
