Today is International Women’s Day.
This day acknowledges the progress which has been made towards equal rights for women over many years. It is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world.
It also serves as a reminder that there is much work still to do, with the theme for this year’s event being #BalanceforBetter, a call to action to accelerate gender parity in all sectors.
At CGW, today is special as over 70% of our team is female. In the past year, we’ve made positive changes to the firm’s paid parental leave to better support new parents, including extended pay, and greater leave flexibility. The firm has also earned another year of recognition as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by WGEA for 2018-2019.
International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally and at a local level. The day has been celebrated for over 100 years and continues to grow as we celebrate being more powerful together.
