Cooper Grace Ward wins Equity and Diversity Award

Cooper Grace Ward has added another accolade to its slew of awards for employer excellence, being named the winner of the Queensland Law Society’s (QLS) 2013 ‘Equity and Diversity Award’.

The award was presented to the firm at the QLS Symposium on Friday, 15 March.

Cooper Grace Ward Managing Partner Chris Ward said the award was testament to the strength of the firm’s internal culture and people strategy.

“At Cooper Grace Ward, we have always understood that practising law is not just about knowing the law, it’s also about retaining quality individuals who are able to work with others to achieve the best outcomes for clients,” Mr Ward said.

“That’s why it has always been important to us to support our team with best practice employment practices that encourage diversity and support lifestyle needs”

“Winning this award is a great achievement, especially given the high quality of the other nominees and a very credible judging panel,” he said.

The Equity and Diversity Award was initiated in 2002 (previously known as the QLS Employer of Choice Award) and aims to encourage Queensland legal practices to promote staff diversity and accommodate lifestyle needs. Any non-government legal practice in Queensland, including community legal centres, can nominate.

Cooper Grace Ward has received numerous recommendations and awards in recognition of its exceptional employment policies and positive team culture, including EOWA Employer of Choice for Women Citations in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012; Australasian Law Awards Gold Employer of Choice 2011 and 2012; and Hewitt Best Australian Employers (Highly Commended).
