The Asia Pacific Cities Summit – a biennial event promoting business growth, trade, investment and economic outcomes between cities in the Asia Pacific region – returned to Brisbane on Wednesday 6 July 2011. The theme of the three-day summit was ‘The Business of Cities’. The summit offered an opportunity to participate in a tailored business matching program to encourage partnering and trade among businesses, sponsors and government agencies.
Cooper Grace Ward was represented at the summit by Kaori Kano a lawyer in the firm’s corporate and commercial team. Kaori was one of a number of professionals invited by the Queensland Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QJCCI) to share their booth at the event. Cooper Grace Ward has a long-standing association with the QJCCI, an organisation committed to improving trade, investment and bilateral relations between Queensland and Japan. The event was well attended with delegates representing a range of countries across the Asia Pacific region.
“The QJCCI booth attracted a number of visitors with queries ranging from the purpose and the activities of the QJCCI to how to enter the Japanese market or the Australian market,” Kaori said. “The focus of the summit was on the development of cities and most delegates were interested in learning about smart/clean/green technologies.”
As well as providing wide-ranging general commercial legal advice, Kaori is a Registered Migration Agent and was able to provide advice on this subject to delegates.
