Cooper Grace Ward Presents at preeminent HR Manager Conference

HR practitioners from a range of industry organisations recently heard expert opinion from an impressive line-up of legal professionals regarding the impact of the new IR laws for HR Managers. Now in its 16th year the conference, held in Brisbane on 31 March and 1 April 2011, provided an authoritative and detailed overview of the latest legal changes to Workplace Relations/IR Law and implications for employers.

Cooper Grace Ward Senior Associate Annie Smeaton presented to delegates on General Protection Provisions and ‘Adverse Action’ Claims under Fair Work. Annie’s presentation discussed the significant Adverse Action provisions under the new legislation which cover a range of conduct provisions. She discussed a range of topics associated with Adverse Action including the protection of workplace rights, Adverse Action and industrial disputes, reverse onus of proof provisions and linking Adverse Action with unfair dismissal.

Around 100 delegates were able to gain insight into how to manage the workplace for compliance with the new IR system
