CGW has been named Joint Best Australian Law Firm in the BRW Client Choice Awards 2009.

Featuring in the category of firms with revenue of less than $50 million, the firm shares the accolade with Melbourne law firm Hall & Wilcox.

The awards are the result of a Beaton Consulting survey of more than 30,000 buyers of professional services across Australia.

The focus of the survey is to gain insight into client perceptions of Australian professional services firms and the quality of service they deliver.

The announcement was made at the awards ceremony in Sydney on 11 March and a feature article on the awards appeared in the 12 March issue of BRW magazine.

This year, 33 law firms across Australia entered the awards and Cooper Grace Ward is the only independent Queensland law firm to feature in the list of winners.

The Best Law Firm Awards in the higher revenue categories went to Gilbert + Tobin (revenue $50m to $200m) and Mallesons Stephen Jaques (revenue of more than $200m), two outstanding Australian firms.

Managing partner Chris Ward said Cooper Grace Ward owes its success to the ongoing support of its valued clients and the consistent client focus of its team members.

“This is a brilliant result for all of the CGW team,” he said.

“At Cooper Grace Ward, we do all we can to drive our organisational value of Outstanding Client Service and the survey provides a measurement tool for the firm’s success in this area.

“What makes this award so important to us is that it is based on direct feedback from clients.

“We can say as much as we like about the great work we are doing, but it is worth nothing if it doesn’t match the service our clients are looking for.”
