Property, Planning & Environment
Tarnya is a partner in the property, planning and environment workgroup and leads the planning and environment team.
In addition to her legal qualifications, Tarnya has a Bachelor of Science in environmental science, having majored in ecology and environmental planning. She has recently completed her Master of Urban and Regional Planning with Honours.
Tarnya has experience in the property, resources, agribusiness, infrastructure and public sectors.
In addition to appeals and declarations in the Planning and Environment Court, Tarnya has extensive experience in all aspects of planning and environment law, including:
- Due diligence on planning and environment issues, relating to approvals and compliance issues for IPOs, property acquisitions and corporate restructures and takeovers;
- Master planning and preliminary approvals;
- Compulsory acquisitions of land and compensation issues, including
proceedings in the Land Court; - Objections to annual valuations, including proceedings in the Land Court;
- Environmental law, relating to environmental incident responses, investigations and proceedings for environmental offences, including defending companies and directors under Queensland, New South Wales and federal legislation;
- Climate change and renewable energy; and
- Water.
