
Insurance
Lana is an associate in Cooper Grace Ward’s insurance workgroup. She works primarily in public liability and compulsory third party claims, but also acts in product liability, professional indemnity, demurrage, enforcement and recovery matters, with a particular interest in trial preparation. She is a panel lawyer for two of the firm’s major insurance clients - one for public liability claims and one for compulsory third party insurance claims.
Lana advises insurers on public liability claims arising out of alleged injuries occurring in sporting and recreational activities, as well as at tenanted and owner occupied properties, restaurants and hotels.
Her experience in product liability claims includes in relation to vehicle brakes, workers’ tools, truck equipment and mining machinery.
Lana was a founding member of Cooper Grace Ward’s pro bono committee. She has given pro bono advice in the not-for-profit sector on insurance coverage and risk management issues.
Lana sits on the Queensland committee of the Australian Insurance Law Association.
Prior to joining Cooper Grace Ward in 2005, Lana worked at RACQ Insurance. During her university studies, Lana undertook volunteer work at the Australian Federal Police, Women’s Legal Service, Queensland Advocacy Incorporated and the Office of the Public Advocate.
