
Health & Medical Litigation
Kalina Pyra is a Special Counsel in Cooper Grace Ward’s health law section. She has over 20 years legal experience and for the past 12 years her primary focus has been on health litigation.
Kalina has a Masters of Law specialising in litigation, health law and alternative dispute resolution.
As well as the defence of health professionals in complex personal injury negligence claims, Kalina has acted on behalf of hospitals, medical practitioners and allied health professionals before AHPRA, Coroner’s Court and in the Health Quality and Complaints Commission.
Kalina also provides commercial advice to health clients including the preparation of service and distribution agreements, advice on application of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007 and Business Rules, and advice on application of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 on various business arrangements including share schemes.
From a non medico-legal perspective Kalina also has an extensive background in the defence of insurers in public liability, motor accident and workers’ compensation claims.
