Andrew is an associate in Cooper Grace Ward’s health and medical litigation team. He has over six years legal experience, during which time he has practiced exclusively in the areas of health and insurance law.

Andrew’s practice is dedicated to acting for defendants and their insurers. It encompasses acting for both the public and private health care sectors including hospitals, private specialists, general practitioners, clinical teams and allied health care professionals.

Andrew’s focus within the field of health law includes:

  • defending civil claims, both litigated and unlitigated
  • responding to complaints made or referred to the Health Quality and Complaints Commission during the assessment, investigation and/or conciliation processes 
  • advising and appearing on behalf of hospitals and private practitioners in relation to coronial investigations and inquests
  • representing medical practitioners’ interests before the Medical Board of Australia during investigations, health assessments, registration disputes and disciplinary proceedings
  • providing general advice on a range of medico-legal issues including compliance with privacy legislation, clinical documentation and risk management.

Andrew provides his clients with practical legal advice with a focus on their specific position within the health care industry. He works closely with his clients to achieve an optimal resolution at the earliest stage possible.

Andrew regularly conducts education sessions for his clients and their team which address issues specific to the client’s role within the health care industry.
