Edward is an Associate in Cooper Grace Ward’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.

Edward advises and acts for clients in commercial disputes, with particular focus on:

  • shareholder and trust litigation
  • trade practices / competition litigation
  • software and telecommunications disputes
  • intellectual property disputes
  • building and construction disputes
  • contractual disputes

Prior to joining Cooper Grace Ward Edward practised as a barrister in the ACT and NSW.

Edward has extensive experience founding and managing a successful SME in the Information Technology and Telecommunications field.

He applies his business experience to achieving commercially focused outcomes for clients, having regard to the realities of operating small and medium enterprises. The experience also enables him to readily understand the challenges faced by clients involved with technology, telecommunications, software engineering, e-commerce and intellectual property.

During his experience as a barrister and at Cooper Grace Ward, Ed has acted for clients in litigation and successfully resolved substantial claims for both claimants and defendants.

David is a partner in Cooper Grace Ward’s commercial workgroup.  He has over 25 years experience in delivering legal solutions to all types of business.

David specialises in acting for buyers and sellers of SMEs.  This includes advising on structuring transactions, negotiation of terms, due diligence and completion.  He often works closely with accountants in metropolitan and regional Queensland to achieve the best tax outcomes for business owners involved in buying and selling businesses.

With this background he has wide experience in dealing with real property, finance, intellectual property, information technology and tax.

David’s recent experience includes:

  • Sale of the business and land holdings of a Queensland engineering company.
  • The sale to a listed company of a business in the leisure industry.
  • Advising one of the world’s largest development and construction companies on a joint venture for a major redevelopment project in Brisbane.
  • Sale of a helicopter charter business for $22 million.

David has been a member of the Property Law & Practice Committee and the Securities Law Committee of the Queensland Law Society.  He is a director of the Queensland Law Foundation.
