On 12 October 2009, Queensland-based law firm Cooper Grace Ward expanded into 400 George, the new 34-storey, five green-star rated building in Brisbane’s rejuvenated North Quarter Precinct.
The firm’s Managing Partner, Chris Ward said the relocation is driven by Cooper Grace Ward’s need for more space to accommodate its continuing growth.
“The move provides us with more room for expansion as we upgrade from our former 2,900m2 tenancy in Eagle Street to 4,300m2 in George Street, spread over three floors,” Ward said.
Cooper Grace Ward has become one of Queensland’s largest law firms with a team of 160 people.
“We’re not interested in growth for growth’s sake, however, our increasing array of services and industry experience equates to better support for our clients,” Ward said.
“The relocation might be seen as a bold move in the current economic climate but it’s one that aligns with our long term business strategy.”
The new premises offer the firm’s team members a state-of-the-art working environment combined with better access to facilities including child care and public transport.
Situated in the North Quarter Precinct of Brisbane’s CBD, the A-grade commercial building also provides easy access to green spaces, retail, cultural and entertainment venues in both the city and South Bank via the new Kurilpa Bridge.
“We place significant focus on our culture and our team’s development, and the offerings of 400 George Street fit very comfortably within this focus,” Ward said.
"In one sense, we’ve returned home as George Street is where our firm had its origins in 1980 when we occupied the old MLC (now Hitachi) building.”
